In 2009 Saul Zonana brought himself and his guitar to the Catskills home of drummer Aaron Comess (spin doctors, joan osborne etc…). Joining them were good friends Richard Hammond on bass and Teddy Kumpel on guitar. They set up their gear all around the house and for three days they ate pancakes for breakfast and spaghetti for dinner. They drank wine, told dirty jokes and played Saul’s new tunes a whole bunch. Saul was straight off the road from the Adrian Belew trio and had a more progressive edge to his new music. The boys were all over it. So much so that grammy winning engineer Roman Klun showed up with a mobile pro tools recording rig and the magic was now captured on multi track for all to hear. The album became BLUE MONKEY named after the blueberry pancake that was religion for Saul and the boys. This is some of the most musical and limit pushing material that Saul has released.
